Choir is a very popular extra-curricular activity here at St Katherine’s and as a result we run two separate clubs. There is a year 3 and 4 choir which takes place on a Monday lunch time which is run by Miss Crittenden and Miss Whitcombe and a year 5 and 6 choir that takes place on Wednesday after school, ran by Miss Crittenden and Miss Cheeseman. These choirs do not audition and are open to all children in these year groups.
Within choir there is a great emphasis on learning parts and harmonies. This further enhances the children’s listening and ensemble performance skills. We also encourage solo, duet and small group parts within our musical pieces. All of which are opt in parts.
Through these clubs, children will learn a range of songs across a number of different genres. They also learn songs for special events such as the carol service at the church and Education Sunday. Both of which they have the opportunity to perform these skills learnt.
