French

At St Katherine's School & Nursery we have chosen to study French due to Kent being 'The Gateway to Europe' and France being the closest neighbour.

In Early Years and Key Stage 1 children begin to use a few French words as greetings.  Once children move into KS2 they follow sequences of lessons on Salut. In each year group children have an opportunity to build on their conversational skills and learn new vocabulary on different topics.

‘I enjoy being able to have conversations with my friends and trying to learn new vocabulary.  I think it will help me when I go to secondary school.' Theo, Year 6.
