Geography

At St Katherine’s School & Nursery we follow the Pearson Geography Scheme. All children from Years 1 to 6 will complete 3 terms of Geography each year, during these terms 1 hour of Geography will be taught each week.  The topics covered are carefully sequenced to ensure children have opportunities to revisit ideas and issues and deepen their understanding.

In Key Stage 1 children will begin by learning about similarities and differences between the countries of the UK, they will consider landscape, transport, weather and settlements.  They will also begin to consider some environmental issues and consider sustainability.  As children move into Key Stage 2 they will look at populations and settlements around the world and look more at the impact of humans on the environment.

All children are supported in accessing the Geography curriculum regardless of their needs.
