Acorn Class Trip to Shorne Country Park

Acorn Class Trip

On Thursday 6th July the Nursery children went on an educational visit to Shorne Country Park. The children were very excited, especially when they found out that someone from their family would be able to accompany them on the trip. We went on a walk following the 'Purple Route' through woodland and past lakes. The children looked for Ash, Oak and Beech trees as well squirrels, birds and insects. They tested their physical skills climbing trees and trying out the fitness equipment they passed on the walk. In the sensory garden the children were challenged to find 5 plants that would have a strong smell if they rubbed the leaves, they had to find spiders webs and something that was cold when they touched it. With the help of their parents all the children met the challenges. We also found a pigeon sitting on its nest and giant sculptures of insects, arachnids and creatures. We met up for a snack and a chance to explore the adventure play areas, then continued our challenges. To end the visit we had a picnic. The children behaved beautifully, worked hard and had lots of fun!
