On Thursday 4th May the Nursery children went to Ashenbank Woods near Cobham. They had a fantastic time exploring the new sights and sounds. There were bluebells, blossom on some of the trees and many more very old, enormous trees for them to see and climb. Ashenbank Woods also has two fairies Blue and Bell that took the children on an adventure through the woods. The Fairies asked the children to make arrows and funny faces from twigs and leaves, to find rough bark for the creature 'Old Foot' to scratch his back on and to whistle like the birds. All this fun disguised the learning the children engaged with, they used their creative skills and imagination, they looked for signs and writing in the environment, they made marks in the dirt, developed their confidence and physical skills as they learnt to manage risks while climbing and balancing, they took turns and helped each other and of course they talked about what they could see and feel, building their vocabulary and speaking skills. What an amazing day!
