The eco council at St Katherine’s Primary school were voted for by each class in the school, and each class has an eco-representative who would help to look at the way the school can become more environmentally friendly and bring about changes within our school and local community. The elected members give up part of their lunchtimes to attend meetings every other week and will be discussing a number of issues and thinking about possible solutions. Activities would include keeping the site litter free, ensuring that all classrooms are regularly recycling, encouraging energy efficiency within the school and projects to enhance the biodiversity within school. This year the children are going to be looking at taking their work into the local community through regular litter picks as part of the wider ‘Keep Britain Tidy’ campaign. This year we are starting to work towards our Green Flag Award.
