World Book Week

Books Glorious Books!

Many exciting activities have taken place throughout the school to celebrate book week.  All classes throughout the week focused their learning on the book ‘Flotsam’ a book with no words but wonderful pictures that tell the story. All classes have created some wonderful and interesting learning from writing postcards and poems to creating imaginary under the sea scenes.  What an exciting book week we all have had!

World Book Day 2017

It was lovely to see so many children and staff dress up as their favourite book character yesterday to celebrate World Book Day.  Lots of time and effort went into the costumes and everyone looked great!

Swap Shop Book Shop

Many thanks to all the children who took part St Katherine’s ‘Swap Shop Book Shop.’ We had lots of wonderful books bought into swap and both children and staff enjoyed the event. Well done everyone!   One child said “I love doing the swap shop, you get to read many different books that other children have read, I hope someone enjoys the book I bought in.

Extreme Reading Challenge

A big thank you to all the children and staff that took part in the Extreme Reading Challenge over the half term holiday.  We had many amazing entries in lots of interesting positions and different places from all over the world. Well done everyone! What great imaginations you have!

It was a very tricky decision to make as to who would win, but after a lot of consideration and discussion Mrs Powell and Mr Cadwallader decided upon these winners:

Nursery – Millie: Year R -  Dominic; Year 1 – Aiden; Year 2 – Harrison; Year 3 – Alfie; Year 4 -  AJ;  Year 5 -  Gracie; Year 6 – Elisha.     All winners received a £5 book token.
