We have had a fantastic and busy week back after half term. We have been sharing our Halloween tales and half term adventures. Thank you to everyone who has returned their 'Marvellous Me' book and their family portrait for our picture wall.
This week, we have started our new topic 'Let It Shine', by learning about the celebration of Diwali. We have continued our learning of pattern and made some amazing rangoli designs using the chalks outside. We watched a video about a family who celebrate Diwali and learned about some of their traditions. It is good luck to display diya lamps around the home, we used our fine motor skills such as rolling, moulding and pinching to make our own diya lamps using clay. We joined in with some traditional Indian dancing, which was great fun, the music was different to music we have heard before and we really liked it. We made yummy Indian barfi sweets, these were made from coconut, condensed milk and chocolate, as you can imagine we enjoyed this activity a lot!
On Thursday, our reward day for filling up our marble jar, finally arrived. We got to choose a face paint design, we were all very excited and sat very still. We have already got marbles in the jar for our next reward, 'Milk and Cookie Day'!
Firday was 'Firework Night', throughout the week we have been learning a firwork song to the tune of the 'Wheels On The Bus'. We had great fun learning the words and making up actions. Ask your little acorn, if they can perform the song for you at home.
Have a wonderful weekend, look and lsiten our for lots of fireworks and most importantly keep safe!
