We have had a very busy week back. Our focus book this week was ‘The Gingerbread Man’, as it is one of our little Acorn’s favourite books. We were sad when The Gingerbread Man got eaten by the fox at the end of the story. We used our problem-solving skills to think of different ways The Gingerbread Man could have made it across the river, without having to ride on the fox. We thought using a boat or a bridge were good ideas. This gave us an idea to make our own junk model boats and test them to see if they would float or sink. We also investigated, what happens to gingerbread biscuits when they get wet? Soggy and mushy was the answer!!
At the end of Term 5, we filled up our marble jar, this meant we earned our reward of yummy doughnuts with sprinkles on top.
In maths we have been learning about ordinal numbers, we combined this with our physical development skills. Practising different types of races to see which position each group came. You could try having a race at home with your family to see who comes first, second, third or fourth place.
For our phonics learning we went on the big field to listen to sounds in the environment. We could hear things like, the wind rustling leaves on the trees, birds and children playing. Then we enjoyed story time outside in the fresh air.
