Another busy week for Acorn Class. Some of us stayed for 'Movie Night', which was really fun and we earned lots for marbles for being very sensible. Thank you for all donations, for our 'Wear it Green Day', in aid of Mental Health Awareness Week.
For our learning this week, we read a book by Eric Carle called, 'The Tiny Seed'. It was a wonderful story about a tiny seed that travelled through the wind, avoiding many obstacles, until finally finding a place to settle and growing into a giant beautiful flower! We have learned that icy mountains and hot deserts are not suitable for seeds to grow because on icy mountains the seed will freeze and in hot deserts, it does not rain.
We have exciting updates on the seeds we planted last week, some of the shoots are beginning to emerge from the seed. When we return from the weekend, we all think small leaves will be visible. We will post updates on Facebook, during the week.
In our maths learning, we have now met 'Nina Nine' the builder from Ten Town. In our maths area we have a box of numicon, this is a resource that is used throughout the whole school and is an excellent resource for all children to explore and develop their understanding of number. We had great fun counting the different numicon shapes and trying to find the number nine numicon. We have also enjoyed the challenge of writing the number nine numeral.
Next week, we are going to read another popular story by Eric Carle, can you guess which one?
