We have had a great week in Acorn class, we are pleased to announce our marble jar has been filled to the top. This means we will celebrate our good behaviour and learning with a homemade ice cream bar. Please do not worry if are not in on Tuesday 18th, you will be able to have your ice cream on the day you are next in. We have ice lollies for those of you who do not like ice cream. A huge well done to everyone in Acorn class for working together to fill the marble jar up!
Our focus book has been 'The Tiny Seed' by Eric Carle. We are learning lots about how to grow seeds, the seeds we planted in plastic wallets have started to sprout, Squirrel group's has grown the most. Hopefully, the other seeds will have grown some more over the weekend, then we can replant them in our outside area.
We have had fun with phase 1 phonics, using our bodies to make different sounds and rhythms. We have been using our nursery rhyme bag to help us learn familiar rhymes, to develop our language skills and extend our vocabulary. Can you share your favourite nursery rhyme with your family, do you remember all of the words?
Learning about size has been a great success over the past couple of weeks, lots of our little acorns have made links in their learning, using lots of language relating to size and recognising size comparisions in their child-initiated learning.
In Acorn class we like all of our children to take an active role in their learning experience and part of that process is the planning. Therefore, on request by one little acorn, our focus book next week will be 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle.
