This week in Acorn class we have been enjoying the story 'Cave Baby' by one of our favourite authors, Julia Donaldson.  Bringing our topic 'Look out world, here we come...', to an end, we have been talking about being individual and having our own ideas and styles, just like 'Cave Baby' demonstrated in the story through colour and artwork.  However, we did highlight the importance of not drawing on other people's artwork and in places we have not been given permission.  Some of our children were quick to share how their siblings draw on their walls at home, we did emphasis the importance of NOT drawing on walls at home!!

We have been using our imaginations well to recreate scenes from our focus book, engaging in lots of mark making activities, our favourite activity was using large pieces of brown paper to create our own 'Cave Baby' inspired pictures and patterns.

In maths we have been securing a good knowledge and understanding of pattern, making our own patterns using a wide range of resources and recognising patterns in our environment.

We loved wearing our pyjamas to school day, raising lots of money for our food bank.  Thank you to everyone who donated.

Also, this term we have being practising our happy breathing exercises and working on skills to encourage positive menlth health and well-being.  Take time out at home to enjoy some 'My Happy Mind' strategies, continuing to support the programme we use throughout the school.

Next week, we are going to focus on a range of books and make some warm yummy soup!
