Reception have had a very busy, creative and fun packed week! We enjoyed listening to the children as they told us all about their Halloween experiences. In school they had the opportunity to dress up as witches and wizards, make potions, broomsticks and wands. Some of the teachers were turned into frogs :) We also celebrated Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. We made diva lamps using clay, Rangoli patterns using chalk, crayons, coloured rice and glitter and they drew around their hands to make mehndi patterns. We also celebrated Bonfire Night by making firework pictures with paint and we discussed the importance of staying safe. In Phonics we began word building and reading and spelling words with the letters s, a, t and m. In Maths we looked at 2D shapes, with a focus on triangles and circles. We discussed the artwork of Kandinsky and each class produced fantastic pictures of Kandinsky's concentric circles which we have framed and they look super in our classrooms!
