Our final full week in Acorn class is over! We have ended our topic on a hot air balloon adventure, with a wonderful book called 'The Great Balloon Hullabaloo'. We had great fun exploring science and conducting experiments using balloons. We can confirm that some experiments were less successful than others, resulting in balloons bursting! We had fun in the outside area, our challenge was to keep the balloons in the air for as long as possible without dropping them, we were quite good at this!
On Tuesday, we had a great time taking part in our sports day. Well done to Owl group, winning for the third year! Our sports day video is now available to watch. To access the video go to the children tab (at the top of main page) video library, then video centre.
In phonics, we explored alliteration using the first initial sound of our name, matched with the first initial sound of an animal name. We had some great ideas, some were really funny too. We had lots of circle time this week to develop our communication and language skills, we gained 4 marbles this week for demonstrating good speaking and listening skills.
We have been revisiting and consolidating our maths skills throughout our child-initiated learning time and in short adult-led sessions. Lots of us are confident with our numbers up to ten, we have been representing number using our fingers during carpet time, with good number recognition. Keep practising over the summer, for those going to reception, your new teacher will be very impressed!
