We kicked started our week off, with game of bingo to consolidate our number recognition to five. Next, we prepared a huge box, by painting it white ready for us to create our very own Jackson Pollock inspired masterpiece. As you can imagine, we had great fun practising our paint flicking technique and even more fun playing with the box once the paint had dried. We have framed a piece of the paint splattered box to put up on display, as we are very proud of how it turned out. We named our artwork ‘Splat’.
In recognition of ‘Children’s Mental Health Week’, we looked at a book called ‘Ruby’s Worry’, and talked about the importance of keeping both our minds and bodies healthy. During our circle time, we discussed some of the things that can sometimes worry us and that the best worry to solve a worry is by talking about it with someone.
It was also, ‘National Storytelling Week’ this week and we had great fun building reading dens in our key groups. We enjoyed choosing a story for our adults to read to us in our reading dens, it was a bit of a squeeze for some of us.
To end our week, we had a special yummy treat because we missed our Christmas party. As you know, in Acorn class we always see an opportunity for learning and used the different crisp flavours to complete a survey to find out our favourite flavours. It was a pretty even split, between cheese puffs, bacon rashers and onion rings!
Next Week, we are excited to be learning about Chinese New Year.
