This week in Gala we read 'We're going on a bear hunt.' We got creative and used tissue paper, real grass, cotton wool and crayons to make the different scenes of the story. The small world in class was popular and it was lovely listening to the children telling the story to their friends. At the end of the week we learnt about real bears and were amazed that there were so many different ones! We watched a video of the real bears in action then by matching pictures of the bears to their habitats we made our own information books. In Maths we have continued to focus on numbers to 3, comparing them and making sets. In Phonics we are listening to the first sound in words and sorting lots of objects and pictures.

This week in Bramley Class we have enjoyed reading and retelling the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. We have created story board pictures using different materials for the different settings from the story, we even wrote down the sounds we could hear to label our pictures! We have loved playing with our new 'mini me's and using them to act out the story using small word. In maths, we have been finding different ways to show sets of 1, 2, and 3 including finding one more/less. In our phonics we have explored making different sounds with our voices as well as listening for the first sound in words.

This week Pippin Class had lots of fun acting out the story of 'We're Going On A Bear Hunt'. We watch the author Michael Rosen tell the story and then acted it out using masks and puppets. We have learnt about real bears and where they life and what they like to eat. We also thought about what to do if someone is feeling sad or worried. In our maths, we have been exploring making and comparing sets using 1,2 and 3. We have worked really hard this week to identify the sound we can hear at the beginning of words and to understand what alliteration is.
