All of Reception have had a fantastic week exploring Autumn. We went on a walk around the playground looking for changes linked to Autumn. We found berries and acorns, we saw that the leaves on some of the trees had begun to change colour from green to red, gold, orange and brown. We collected leaves and used them to make pictures and painted our own trees using only autumn colours. As part of our learning for Black History Month we discussed at our own similarities and differences. We then compared two eggs, one with a cream coloured shell and one with a brown shell. We debated whether they were the same on the inside or not as they were different on the outside. We then cracked open the eggs to find out. It made us think about how we are all the same on the inside. In our maths we have been learning about circles and triangles. We sorted shapes into hoops and explored their properties. We looked at painting by Kandinski, who had also used circles and triangles in his artwork. Finally we created our own pictures using only circles and triangles. In our phonics we have been learning how to segment and blend words. Wow what a busy week it has been!
