This week we have been celebrating Earth Week. We began by reading the story of the 'Messy magpie' where the children were introduced to the importance of putting rubbish in the bin and recycling. We used hoops to sort rubbish and are now very careful what we put into our recycling bin in class. We went on a walk around the school grounds looking for and listening for birds. We collected pine cones and made bird feeders using seeds and lard. We hung them up in our outside area and are looking forward to the birds arriving! We looked at the globe and atlases and saw our school on Google Earth. The children made their own 'Earth' using marbling, paints and tissue paper. In Maths we have focused on addition and subtraction within 10 using counters and Numicon and in Phonics we have been learning to read and spell CVCC and CCVC words.
