This week Gala Class read the story of 'The Gingerbread Man' and enjoyed joining in with the repeating phrases. We made a class story map and the children had fun making their own story books. Our role-play area became a kitchen. It was great to see the children using their imagination to act out making gingerbread men. Many of the gingerbread men escaped from the kitchen so there was lots of chasing around the classroom after them!! At the end of the week we decorated ginger biscuits using icing sugar, laces and smarties. In Maths we looked at patterns using colours and shapes and in Phonics we have been learning to match objects and pictures that rhyme.
Bramley Class have really enjoyed reading and retelling the story of 'The Three Little Pigs' this week. We have made our own houses, pigs and wolves to act out the story in our play. On our story maps, we drew pictures to show what happened next in the story and annotated with some fantastic mark-making. In Maths, we have observed and created our own patterns, encouraging each other to talk about our patterns and what would come next. We have been playing lots of listening games and trying to spot words that rhyme Bramley Class have enjoyed making their own rhyming 'silly soup' with objects in the classroom. What can you find at home that rhymes?
Pippin Class have had an exciting week listening to and acting out the story of The three Billy Goats Gruff. We have retold the story with puppets, small world figures and using masks in the garden. We even built our own bridge! In Phonics this week we have been learning to hear and say rhyming words and match pictures that rhyme. We really enjoyed using the interactive white board to play rhyming games. In Maths we have been looking for and creating patterns. We have learnt to make repeating patterns using colours, shapes and even cut out stamps. We explored the sensory garden, smelling the different herbs and plants and finding insects including ladybirds and spiders.
