This week in Bramley Class we have enjoyed sharing the story 'The Gingerbread Man'. We had fun making our own 'Gingerbread Men' using lots of creative resources. We also decorated some yummy gingerbread men with icing and jelly tots. We did an experiment with one gingerbread man in a bowl of water and one in a bowl of milk we predicted what would happen and then observed the changes. In maths, we have been learning all about the numbers 1, 2 and 3, what they look like, how to make sets of 1, 2 and 3 as well as comparing. In phonics we have focused on listening to 'Alliteration' and saying the first sound we can hear in words.
In Gala Class this week we have been reading the story, 'The Three Billy Goat's Gruff'. We enjoyed acting out the story outside and made sure we crept around the playground quietly so not to wake the troll! We sequenced the story pictures and challenged ourselves to build our own bridges using lego, sticklebricks and wooden blocks. In Maths we have been identifying and creating representations of 1, 2 and 3. We created the numbers in a variety of ways, such as using Numicon, counters, multi link, pegs, acorns and conkers. In phonics, we focused on 'Alliteration' and had fun creating alliterative words for the class, such as Martyn's mad monkey and Thomas's terrific turtle!
This week in Pippin Class we have been focusing on the story of The Three Little Pigs. We have acted out the story using small world figures and masks, we have used the book as a stimulus for art work and made our own pigs. Mrs Smith our school artist came and helped us to make a display all about the stories we have looked at this term. We have been creating zig zag books retelling the story in our own words and starting to add writing to our drawings. In our maths, we have compared numerals and sets of 1, 2 and 3. In our phonics we have been learning to hear the initial sounds in words and the say others words that start with the same sound. It has been a busy week.
