Enrichment

                         A Year of Sports

What a year of sport it has been at St Katherine’s! We are truly sports-mad, and we pride ourselves on offering our children a wide range of opportunities to get active, both within school and through borough-wide competitions. This year has seen some fantastic successes - our football and netball teams reached the latter stages of their tournaments, our lower KS2 athletics team triumphed in a borough competition, and we celebrated our first-ever win in a tag rugby tournament!

To top it all off, we also retained our Platinum School Games Award, recognising our ongoing commitment to high-quality PE and competitive sport. Congratulations to everyone who has represented the school with passion, teamwork and pride. We can’t wait to see what successes next year brings!

Residential – Memories Made in Kingswood

Year 6 had an unforgettable time on their residential to Kingswood, Ashford, thoroughly enjoying the wide range of exciting activities on offer. From the adrenaline rush of the 3G swing to the teamwork challenge of Jacob’s Ladder, the trip was a brilliant test of collaboration, resilience and courage. The disco was a definite highlight - imagine the excitement when their much-loved Dance Through the Cultures song was played! A huge thank you to all the staff who went above and beyond to ensure the trip was safe, smooth and full of memories that will last a lifetime. There are lots of pictures on our Facebook page for parents/ carers to view.

Year 5 Money Management Workshops

Our friends from CRIBS returned to St Katherine’s  to lead money management workshops as part of our Year 5 transition programme. The sessions were highly engaging and focused on key financial concepts, including income, spending, saving, and giving.

These workshops are a valuable part of preparing our children for the next stage of their education and developing essential life skills.

Pupil Voice: It helped us to learn about how to look after our money by saving what’s left after we buy something. We also learnt how to budget when going on holiday.” (George – Year 5)

Zamble African Dance Workshops

As part of our Black History learning, we invited the fantastic Zamble African Dance Company into school to present assemblies and deliver interactive workshops. Pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed their high energy dances, whilst children in KS2 had the opportunity to learn and perform some traditional African dance routines.

Year 3 Stone Age Workshop

Year 3 enjoyed their visit from Maidstone Museum, They were excited to hold Stone Age artefacts, some of which were over 8000 years old.

Mindfulness Workshops Year 1 -Year 6

For World Mental Health Day, the children in Years 1 -6 took part in a Mindfulness workshop.

The children explored using their senses to calm their bodies when feeling upset, angry or over excited.

Thank you to Chris the Trainer for sharing some helpful facts and tips for keeping us well.
